The international auction house Sotheby’s on Monday announced that it will be collaborating with Taiwan’s mandopop star Jay Chou in June. Chou will become the first in the Chinese music scene to take part in a Sotheby’s event.
Sotheby’s cited Chou as not only an influential singer on the global stage but also an avid art collector. Chou has been a frequent visitor of art events such as Art Basel and ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair.
The singer has recently shown a photo of one of his collections titled Again and Again done by the American graffiti artist and designer KAWS. The art piece is an enlarged depiction of the American cartoon character SpongeBob which Chou bought at a record price at Sotheby’s London in 2018.
