Taiwan and US officials meet to discuss offshore wind farming
Rhode Island State Governor Daniel McKee

Representatives from Taiwan and the US met virtually on Wednesday morning to discuss cooperation in the area of offshore wind farming. Offshore wind farms are a focal point of US President Joe Biden’s policy, and Taiwan has extensive experience with offshore wind farm development.

Industry representatives and government officials attended the meeting to discuss how to better integrate supply chains between Taiwan and the US. Among the attendees was Rhode Island State Governor Daniel McKee.

Rhode Island established the US’ first commercial offshore wind farm in 2016, under the guidance of McKee. McKee said he hopes to draw upon Taiwan’s experience and expertise in future offshore wind farm projects.

The Head of Taiwan’s New York Representative Office James Lee attended the meeting as well. He said climate change is an obstacle that humanity will have to overcome together. He says the meeting was a show of support for President Biden’s move to develop offshore wind farms in the US.
