President Tsai Ing-wen says international cooperation is needed to tackle global warming and promote sustainable development. Tsai was speaking Thursday at an innovation forum titled “Sustainability: the Solutions for Our Earth.”
The forum, organized by the American Innovation Center, was held Thursday to mark the 51st year of Earth Day.
Tsai said that Taiwan will not sit idly by amid the advance of global warming, and that it will work with other countries to create a win-win situation.
Tsai also said that the European Union, Japan, South Korea, and China have already put forward policies to cope with climate change, adding that the United States is playing a key role in global CO2 reductions.
Tsai said that as CO2 reductions will effect economic development, countries with new technologies and new models will hold a key position in a rapidly-changing world.
