Rain, rain, don’t go away. Stick around for another day! Much needed rainwater fell in central Taiwan over the weekend, exciting locals like this fruit farmer.
Taiwan is going through its worst drought in 56 years, so you can imagine how precious this rain is. Authorities at a reservoir in Miaoli took the opportunity to seed some clouds, in an effort to induce more precipitation.
But weather experts say that these scattered showers were just a drop in a bucket. Many of the affected reservoirs were only able to accumulate a few millimeters of water at most.
Reservoirs in Central Taiwan are currently operating below 10% capacity. Hopefully, the weekend drizzle was a teaser for more thirst-quenching storms on the way.
