Taiwan is planning to allow arrivals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to shorten their quarantine from 14 to seven days. The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said on Monday that the plan could start as soon as mid-May.

Minister of Health and Welfare Chen Shih-chung  outlined some of the requirements to be approved for a 7-day quarantine.  These include having to be vaccinated more than a month prior to visiting Taiwan. They would also need proof of a negative COVID-19 test result before their flight and another negative test result for COVID-19 on the seventh day after their arrival. Chen also said they would need to be tested for antibodies in Taiwan.

Chen said a trial period, where a limited number of people would be approved for the shorter quarantine, could begin as early as mid-May.

Since March last year, Taiwan has required all arrivals to quarantine for 14 days. The requirement was lifted for some business travelers from certain countries deemed at lower risk of COVID-19 and high-level foreign officials.
