The legislature has passed a revision to the organization of the Veterans Affairs Council (VAC) to deepen the exchanges between Taiwanese and American veterans. The legislature passed the third reading of the revision on Tuesday.
VAC Deputy Minister Lee Wen-chung said the council is planning to send two personnel to the United States in the third quarter of this year.
Lee said given that all three major veteran organizations in the US have influence over the US government, he hopes the move is helpful for the foreign and defense ministries.
Ruling DPP lawmaker Mark Ho said he hopes exchanges between US and Taiwan veterans will help improve security in the Asia Pacific region.
In addition to the United States, the Veterans Affairs Council is also planning to send personnel to France and Japan in the future.
