VIDEO: Endangered species of owl found on grounds of a Tainan park
A napping owl looks like it's about to keel over!

The Collared Scops Owl is an endangered species in Taiwan. Recently a baby owl was discovered on the grounds of a park in Tainan, offering lucky passersby a good close up look of the bird.

A baby Collared Scops Owl was sighted at the Tainan Waterworks Museum. These small owls usually nest in natural tree hollows, but this one was found on the ground. Experts believe that the owlet was learning to fly but failed and ended up on the grass. When it was first discovered, it looked like it was taking a nap. It was standing right where it landed with its head tilted to one side in a most adorable pose!

Afraid that it might get hurt, the staff at the park first put it in a cardboard box before carefully taking it back to its home in a tree hollow above where it fell.

The staff said it wasn’t their first time seeing a Collared Scops Owl there. The rare owls are cute creatures, but people can’t take them home as they are an endangered species.
