The European Union plans to roll out tax incentives to attract investment from major semiconductor corporations. One of the companies the EU is eyeing is Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC), the world's largest semiconductor manufacturer.
Taiwanese lawmakers invited Economics Minister Wang Mei-hua to answer questions about this development. Wang said that Taiwan and the EU cooperate closely in the area of industry. She said that the question of whether TSMC takes the EU up on its offer is entirely up to the company. However, according to Wang, TSMC remains committed to maintaining Taiwan as its primary base of operations.
