Poland’s representative to Taiwan, Bartosz Ryś has highlighted the close state of his country’s ties with Taiwan at an event marking Poland’s Constitution Day.
During Thursday’s event, Ryś thanked Taiwan for donating one million masks to Poland during April and May of last year.
Ryś also spoke about the values of democracy, the rule of law, and human rights that Taiwan and Poland share, and the continuation of bilateral cooperation despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Ryś said that Poland signed a criminal justice cooperation agreement with Taiwan, which took effect in February. This makes Poland the first European country to sign a judicial cooperation agreement with Taiwan.
Finally, Ryś spoke about trade relations with Taiwan. He said that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, bilateral trade grew by 13% in 2020, and the two sides signed two business-related agreements during a bilateral trade meeting held in September.
