Deputy Foreign Minister Tien Chung-kwang says global support for Taiwan’s WHA bid is unstoppable. His comments came Monday in an interview.
The WHA or the World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of the World Health Organization. Taiwan has been barred from the annual meeting for several years in a row due to Chinese pressure.
This year’s WHA meeting is scheduled for May 24 to July 1. It will be held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Taiwan is hoping to participate as an observer, but it has yet to receive a letter of invitation from the global health body. The deadline for receiving the letter is May 10, European time.
Tien says the government is working hard to seek support from its allies.
