Tourist attractions and entertainment venues up their prevention game
Tourist attractions and entertainment venues around Taiwan are ramping up prevention measures

Health Minister Chen Shih-chung has called Taiwan’s current COVID-19 situation “no joke.” Health authorities are clamping down as the government rushes to contain multiple chains of domestic infection that have no identifiable source. Tourist attractions and entertainment venues are taking no risks, as they implement intensive prevention measures.

Disinfect the inside. Disinfect the outside. Personnel at Alishan National Forest Park are taking no chances. One of the main attractions here is a railway that goes up the side of the mountain. The station leading into the train platform is also getting a thorough disinfecting. You want to ride the train? Then you need to have your temperature taken, and your hands disinfected too. Oh, and there will be no food or drink.

It’s not just tourist attractions that are clamping down. Right after the government announced that it was raising Taiwan’s COVID-19 alert level, baseball stadiums started limiting seating, and prohibiting eating and drinking inside the venue. The changes came so quickly that this father and son duo had to scarf down their two pizzas before they could watch the baseball game.

Taiwan may be on high alert, but it’s a small price to pay to ward off the pandemic.
