Premier Su Tseng-chang has called on the government to step up enforcement of COVID-19 prevention measures over the coming weekend. Saturday and Sunday of this week will be the first weekend since Taiwan raised its COVID-19 alert level to Level 3. Level 3 means no indoor gatherings of more than 5 people or outdoor meetings of more than ten. In addition, masks are mandatory at all times under a Level 3 alert, both indoors and outdoors.
Su reminded Taiwan residents to stay home over the weekend in order to lessen contact with other people. He also called on people to be more vigilant about their own health and about complying with COVID-19 regulations.
The premier called for the National Police Agency to step up the search for people not wearing masks, illegal gatherings, and businesses continuing to operate secretly behind closed doors.
Su said he hopes that Taiwan’s people will work together to fight the COVID-19 pandemic as well as fake news.
