COVID-19: Taiwan reports 297 new domestic cases, 258 backlogged
The Central Epidemic Command Center also reported an additional 258 backlogged cases for days in the past two weeks.

Taiwan reported 297 new domestic cases of COVID-19 on Friday, along with two imported cases. The vast majority of the cases continue to be in the greater Taipei area in northern Taiwan.

The country also reported 19 more deaths from the virus, bringing the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 78. The deceased include 14 men and five women.
 
The Central Epidemic Command Center also reported an additional 258 backlogged cases for days in the past two weeks.

Of the 297 new local cases announced on Friday, 157 were men and 140 were women. They began experiencing symptoms between April 29 and May 27.

Of the 258 backlogged cases added to daily totals on Friday, 133 were men and 125 were women. They began experiencing symptoms between May 11 and May 27. Here is the breakdown by city/county:

Taoyuan City: 1

As for the source of the 555 local cases announced on Friday (including backlogged cases), 110 had a travel history in Taipei’s Wanhua District. Another nine cases are connected to tea parlors (adult entertainment venues), and one to a Lion’s Club cluster. A specific source of transmission is known for 181 cases, the source is unknown for 142, and 111 cases are still under investigation. 

Taiwan also recorded two imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday. They include one traveler from Australia and one from the Philippines.
