COVID-19: Taiwan reports 364 new domestic cases, 219 backlogged

Taiwan reported 364 new domestic cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, along with two imported cases. The vast majority of the cases continue to be in the greater Taipei area in northern Taiwan.

The country also reported 17 more deaths from the virus, bringing the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 166. The deceased include 13 men and four women.
 
The Central Epidemic Command Center also reported an additional 219 backlogged cases for days in the past two weeks.

Of the 364 new local cases announced on Thursday, 186 were men and 178 were women. They began experiencing symptoms between April 28 and June 2.

Of the 219 backlogged cases added to daily totals on Thursday, 120 were men and 99 were women. They began experiencing symptoms between May 13 and May 31. 

As for the source of the 583 local cases announced on Thursday (including backlogged cases), 489 had a travel history to Taipei or New Taipei City. Of the remaining 94 cases, a specific source of transmission is known for 77 cases, the source is unknown for 14, and three cases are still under investigation. 

Taiwan also recorded two imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. They include one traveler from Indonesia and one from Vietnam.
