The foreign ministry and the Presidential Office have thanked the US for including Taiwan in a plan to distribute 80 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to partners worldwide. The White House announced the plan on Thursday, saying that the vaccines will be made available at the end of June.
The foreign ministry said Friday that Taiwan will continue strengthening its partnership with the US on the basis of its good, existing foundation.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Office has conveyed President Tsai Ing-wen’s thanks to the diplomats that worked to secure Taiwan’s inclusion in the deal, as well as her thanks to US lawmakers that support Taiwan, US President Joe Biden, and the US government as a whole. Tsai said that Taiwan and the US will continue contributing to disease prevention efforts and to global health.
