The foreign ministry said on Tuesday that Taiwan’s domestic COVID-19 vaccine producer, Medigen, will work with Taiwan’s diplomatic ally Paraguay for Phase 3 clinical trials for the vaccine.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Joanne Ou said, “The Taiwan government has always welcomed Taiwanese enterprises to enhance cooperation with Taiwan’s diplomatic allies. The foreign ministry is optimistic about the outcome of cooperation between Medigen and the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Paraguay’s National University of Asunción. [Taiwan] will continue to provide whatever necessary assistance.”
Ou said once Taiwan’s vaccines receive authorization for emergency use, the government will share Taiwan’s vaccines with its diplomatic allies in addition to using them in Taiwan.
