The second Chinese Language Journalism Award for Overseas Media is underway. The global awards are organized by the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC).
The award is aimed at encouraging the overseas media to cover stories about Taiwanese expats to bridge the gap between them and people in Taiwan. The OCAC would like to see the kindness of the Taiwanese people seen and heard around the world.
Last year, the award had two categories: print/web journalism and broadcast journalism. On Tuesday, OCAC Minister Tung Chen-yuan said the new category “television/video journalism” will be added to this year’s awards.
Tung also said there is a “Special Award for Electronic News Reporting on Overseas Ethnic Chinese Affairs” this year. The special award is set up especially for global news volunteers. There are about 140 news volunteers around the world.
Submissions will be accepted from now until August 15th.
