Macau’s representative office in Taiwan announced Wednesday that it will suspend operations starting June 19. The office gave no reason for its decision to stop operating.
The office says that it will offer consultation to Macau residents in Taiwan via a 24-hour hotline. Taiwanese citizens seeking information about Macau can also use the hotline.
The Macau office’s sudden decision to suspend operations comes about a month after the Hong Kong representative office in Taiwan also stopped operating. The Hong Kong office said that its suspension had nothing to do with an ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in Taiwan, but it gave no further explanation.
