COVID-19 (6/17): Taiwan reports 175 more cases, 19 deaths

Taiwan reported 175 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, all domestic infections.

The addition of 19 more deaths from the virus brings the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 497. The deceased include eleven men and eight women, with the youngest in her forties.

Of the 175 new local cases announced on Thursday, 100 were men and 75 were women. They began experiencing symptoms between June 3 and June 16.

The Thursday totals (by city/county) are as follows: 

New Taipei City: 87
Taipei City: 34
Miaoli County: 31
Hsinchu County: 10
Taoyuan City: 7
Hualien County: 2
Keelung City: 2
Taichung City: 1

As for the source of the 54 cases outside of Greater Taipei announced on Thursday, a specific source of transmission is known for 53 cases, and the source is unknown for one.

The Central Epidemic Command Center says that more than half of the 12,042 COVID-19 patients diagnosed between May 11 and June 15 have already been released from quarantine.
