Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says that senior citizens should continue to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. That’s despite the deaths of 13 recently vaccinated people.
During a legislative meeting Thursday, Chen said that while it’s too early to rule out a connection between these deaths and COVID vaccines, there are many other possible causes of death in these cases. He also said that data from overseas shows a certain death rate among those who have been vaccinated, but that overall, the benefits of being vaccinated outweigh the possible negative effects.
Both New Power Party lawmaker Chen Jiau-hua and KMT lawmaker Lin Yi-hua called on the health ministry to call a meeting to uncover any connection between COVID vaccines and risk of death.
