Paraguay has purchased one million doses of Taiwanese COVID-19 vaccines. That was the word from the foreign ministry on Tuesday.
The foreign ministry said the South American ally has signed a contract with the US-based Vaxxinity to purchase UB-162 vaccines. Vaxxinity is an affiliate of the Taiwan-based United Biomedical, Inc. (UBI).
Paraguay will be one of the first countries to receive the vaccines developed by UBI once the company receives the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the government. UBI is currently wrapping up Phase 2 trials of their vaccines and have not applied for an EUA yet.
The foreign ministry said it is glad to see that Paraguay has signed a contract with UBI’s affiliate and will offer any necessary assistance.
