Taiwan reported 104 new domestic cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday and 24 deaths.
The Central Epidemic Command Center also said that the nationwide Level 3 alert would be extended two weeks to July 12. Taiwan’s case numbers have been going down since Taiwan began Level 3 restrictions on May 15. Officials called on the public to comply with social distancing measures to contain the current outbreak.
Of the 104 cases reported on Wednesday, the totals by city and county are as follows:
New Taipei City: 45
Taipei City: 22
Kaohsiung City: 9
Hsinchu County: 9
Taoyuan City: 7
Miaoli County: 4
Keelung City: 3
Yilan County: 2
Changhua County: 1
Nantou County: 1
Pingtung County: 1
The addition of 24 new fatalities from the virus brings the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 599. Those who passed away include 15 men and nine women, with the youngest of the deceased in their 40s. They had contracted the disease between April 11 - June 14 and died between June 13 - June 21.
Of the patients who contracted COVID-19 between May 11 - June 21, 70.2% have recovered.
