COVID-19: Limits on religious events, visits to nat’l parks extended
The interior ministry is extended a COVID-related closure on temples, churches, and other religious institutions until July 12.

The interior ministry has announced that limits on religious events, funerals, and visits to national parks are being extended to July 12. That’s in line with the Central Epidemic Command Center’s decision Wednesday to extend Taiwan’s nationwide Level 3 COVID-19 alert into July.

Until July 12, temples, churches, and other religious institutions will remain closed to the public, and will only be allowed to perform services or ceremonies virtually. Those performing the virtual ceremonies or services will have to follow a range of preventative measures, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.

Similar rules limiting crowding at funeral ceremonies are also being extended. Local governments across Taiwan are strengthening crowd control measures at funeral ceremonies and enforcement of social distancing, mask wearing, and other disease prevention measures.

Finally, popular spots and typically crowded areas at Taiwan’s national parks will remain closed to the public until July 12.
