Two international organizations are willing to help Taiwan buy between 30 and 50 million COVID-19 vaccine doses. That’s the word from former Vice President Annette Lu on Thursday.

In a Facebook post published on Thursday morning, Lu says that the World Peace Prize Awarding Council and World Harmony Foundation are ready to help. Lu says that the two organizations sent a letter to President Tsai Ing-wen yesterday offering their support. She says the organizations are willing to help with negotiations for 30 to 50 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson or Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines. Lu says that the doses would be delivered quickly, in their original packaging and with their quality assured.

In response, Presidential Office spokesperson Xavier Chang says that Tsai has not yet formally received the letter, but she is aware of its contents. He says President Tsai is grateful to Lu for her enthusiasm towards Taiwan’s COVID-19 prevention efforts.

Chang says President Tsai has asked the Central Epidemic Command Center and the foreign ministry to examine the organizations’ proposal.
