Japan pledges another million COVID vaccine doses for Taiwan
Japan is set to provide Taiwan with another million doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Japan is set to provide Taiwan with another million doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Toshimitsu Motegi made the announcement on Wednesday, and said that Japan will provide the vaccine doses before mid-July.

Wednesday’s announcement comes exactly three weeks after Japan donated 1.24 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Taiwan.

In addition to Taiwan, Japan is also planning to give vaccine doses to Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Premier Su Tseng-chang has thanked the Japanese government on behalf of Taiwan’s people, and the foreign ministry says Japan’s decision to provide Taiwan with more vaccine doses shows the firmness of the close friendship between Taiwan and Japan.
