Taiwan reported 76 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, all of them domestic in origin. The majority of the cases continue to be in the Greater Taipei area in northern Taiwan.
Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says that 34 of the domestic cases tested positive during their period of quarantine or self-isolation. The remaining 42 cases were not in quarantine when they tested positive.
The addition of five more deaths from the virus brings the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 610. The deceased include three men and two women. All of them had pre-existing conditions.
Of the 76 new local cases announced on Friday, 39 were men and 37 were women. They began experiencing symptoms between May 18 and June 24.

As for the 24 newly recorded cases outside of the Greater Taipei area, officials say that they know the source of transmission for 13 cases, the source is unknown for two, and nine are still under investigation.
