Three Lithuanian non-profit organizations reached their fundraising targets after donations from Taiwan poured in. The donations come after Lithuania announced that it will donate 20,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to Taiwan in September.
Shortly after the announcement, Taiwanese writer Jill Chang posted links to three Lithuanian nonprofit organizations: Mothers’ Union, Children Cancer Fund Rugut, and the Crisis Pregnancy Center. She encouraged people to donate to the nonprofits as a way to thank the Baltic country.
In a letter to Chang, the Crisis Pregnancy Center said that it received 770 donations from Taiwan, sending the organization past its fundraising target. The center says that combined, the donations from Taiwan make up the largest contribution the organization has received since its establishment. It says that the donated funds will allow the center to operate for a long time.
