Taiwan reported 58 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. That includes 57 new domestic cases and one imported case.

But Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says those numbers don’t include a recent cluster of cases at Huannan Market in Taipei. The market is closed for three days to allow for disinfection. Chen says that recent visitors to the market will receive a text message warning them of possible contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Chen also says that there are no new cases relating to the Delta variant cluster in Pingtung County.

The addition of 15 more deaths from the virus brings the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 676. The deceased include eight men and seven women. All but one of them had pre-existing conditions.

Of the 57 new local cases announced on Friday, 22 were men and 25 were women. They began experiencing symptoms between June 22 and July 1.

The Friday totals (by city/county) are as follows:

Taipei City: 29
New Taipei City: 15
Hsinchu County: 4
Taoyuan City: 3
Keelung City: 3
Taichung City: 2
Hsinchu City: 1

As for the source of the 57 local cases announced on Friday, a specific source of transmission is known for 28 cases, the source is unknown for six, and 23 cases are still under investigation.

Taiwan also recorded one imported case of COVID-19 on Friday, a Taiwanese citizen arriving from Hungary.
