Economics Minister Wang Mei-hua held an online meeting with Australia’s Trade Minister Dan Tehan on Monday.
Australia’s representative to Taiwan Jenny Bloomfield said Taiwan is Australia’s important partner in trade and investment. Bloomfield said both sides look forward to deepening cooperation in the areas of natural gas and hydrogen energy, biotechnology, finance and education.
Meanwhile, Taiwan has plans to become nuclear free by 2025 and to be free of carbon emissions by 2050. Taiwan and Australia can work together to cut down on emissions.
In addition, Tehan invited Wang to attend an online forum on hydrogen energy to be held on July 29. Wang said the exchanges will be beneficial as Taiwan works on transforming its energy industries.
