Taiwan reported 27 new local cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. That’s the second day in a row with local case numbers below 30 since May 14. There were also two new imported cases.
Taiwan is seeing both a declining number of cases and areas affected. The Tuesday totals by city and county are as follows:
Taipei City: 14
New Taipei City: 11
Pingtung County: 1
Changhua County: 1
The Pingtung case was of the Delta variant.
The addition of 17 more deaths from the virus brings the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 706. Of the deceased there were 14 men and three women who contracted the disease between May 16 - July 2 and died between June 28 - July 5.
The two imported cases were Taiwanese male patients returning from the United States and Indonesia.
