The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) has called on local governments to reexamine the capacity of their medical facilities in treating COVID-19 patients. That’s in light of the highly transmissible Delta variant coming to Taiwan.
CECC Deputy Director Chen Tsung-yen urged all counties and cities to closely monitor the spread of the disease.
Chen said since the Delta variant could become a predominant variant in the future, local governments must reexamine the capacity of their medical care systems.
Chen also said while the COVID-19 outbreak has shown signs of abating, Taiwan has seen clusters of infections recently. Thus, early detection and intervention is crucial.
