Premier: Lockdown easing guidelines must be flexible
Speaking on Friday, Premier Su Tseng-chang said that the risks posed by the virus differ from business to business and from county to county.

The easing of Taiwan’s COVID-19 restrictions on July 13 will be down to the judgment of local governments. That was the word from Premier Su Tseng-chang on Friday.

Taiwan’s government formally announced on Thursday that it would extend Level 3 COVID-19 Alert restrictions until July 26. That means many restrictions will remain in place for two more weeks, including mandatory wearing of face masks outside the home, and limits on indoor and outdoor gatherings.

However, the Central Epidemic Command Center says that it will ease some restrictions on businesses and venues. That could mean gyms, museums, and movie theaters could reopen, while restaurants will be able to reopen to dine-in customers.

Speaking on Friday, Premier Su Tseng-chang said that the risks posed by the virus differ from business to business and from county to county. That’s why local governments should consider the risk of infection in their region before deciding how to follow the government’s guidelines.

Su says that the government will give updates of their restriction guidelines throughout the next few weeks.
