People making plans for travel to local sites after COVID restrictions relaxed

With the easing of Taiwan’s COVID-19 restrictions coming up on July 13, people are scrambling to make reservations at local tourist sites. One place even became fully booked in a matter of minutes.

The government has decided to extend the current soft lockdown for another two weeks till July 26. However, some local tourist attractions will relax their restrictions. This has led to tons of people making reservations.

One such place is the Tengjhih National Forest Recreation Area in Kaohsiung. The park is only allowing 300 visitors a day. Just ten minutes after making the announcement, though, the place was fully booked till July 23.

Another popular site loosening restrictions is Alishan in southern Taiwan. The management for the area took 50 reservations over the phone in a day. The office said it is limiting the number of visitors to 3,000 at a time.

There have also been tons of phone calls made about trips to Xiaoliuqiu, an island off the southwestern coast of Taiwan. The company that takes care of the boat rides between Taiwan proper and Xiaoliuqiu said it is still figuring out the schedule. After weeks of being cooped up, people are simply ready to get out and have some fun.
