Taiwan’s top-tier baseball competition is set to resume its regular games on July 13. The Chinese Professional Baseball League, which is Taiwan's premier division, suspended its 2021 season on May 18 after a surge in COVID-19 cases.
Last week, Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) approved the league’s plan to bring back its regular season with tightened prevention controls.
Under the plan, spectators will not be allowed into games, but television channels will broadcast games live on TV. Stadiums will operate with a smaller staff, while both players and workers will take rapid COVID-19 tests before each game. Players must wear masks at all times, except for when they are on the field.
Currently, the league has only published the games schedule for the first week. So far, only stadiums outside of Greater Taipei (Tainan, Douliou, and Taoyuan) are set to host games.
