The Ministry of Labor announced on Tuesday that it will relax qualifications on those who can receive subsidies for part time work that has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The government will give a subsidy of NT$10,000 (US$357) to each affected part-time Taiwanese worker.

The original requirement was that the person must be enrolled in employment insurance on April 30 this year. Now the eligibility date has been changed to any day in April this year.

The latest statistics from the labor ministry show that the number of applicants has not increased significantly since the opening of the application process on Monday. Over 300,000 eligible citizens applied, but that also indicates that nearly 170,000 eligible individuals have not yet applied.
