Taiwan has donated 200 oxygen concentrators to Indonesia to help the Southeast Asian country fight a serious ongoing outbreak of COVID-19.

Oxygen concentrators are medical devices that remove nitrogen from the air, leaving oxygen-enriched gas that can be used to help treat patients suffering from respiratory diseases.

The 200 devices arrived in Jakarta on Monday, but the official donation ceremony took place Wednesday afternoon, with Indonesia’s representative to Taiwan, Budi Santoso, in attendance.

During the ceremony, foreign ministry official Tien Chung-kwang said that Taiwan has been closely watching the course of the COVID-19 pandemic in Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia. Tien said that Taiwan is happy to help the region’s countries fight the pandemic by sharing Taiwanese experience and equipment.
