Taiwan and African ally Eswatini have held the 23rd round of talks about cooperation in economic and technical matters. The talks took place in a virtual format on Thursday, hosted by Taiwanese Economics Minister Wang Mei-hua and Eswatini’s Minister of Economic Planning, Tambo Gina.
During the discussion, the two sides reached a consensus in seven areas. Among the points both sides agreed on are that Taiwan will help Eswatini’s royal technology park, that Taiwan will help a project to provide drinking water to Eswatini’s rural villages, and that Eswatini will reduce rent increases for factories to help Taiwanese investors in Eswatini’s textile industry weather the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the meeting, Gina said that Eswatini will continue speaking up on Taiwan’s behalf on the international stage on the basis of universal values.
