Taiwan has donated 150,000 more face masks to a state in Brazil to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic there.
Taiwan's representative to Brazil, Chang Tsung-che said that he hopes the latest donation can help the residents cope with the third wave of the ongoing outbreak in the Brazilian state Goiás. Last year, Taiwan donated 70,000 masks to the state.
Meanwhile, Goiás Governor's wife, Gracinha Caiado expressed her thanks to Taiwan. She said the masks will be distributed to institutions and organizations involved in the COVID-19 response as well as to the poor community in the area.
Goiás has a population of 7 million and occupies 3.4 million square kilometers of land. Its economy relies heavily on agriculture. Taiwan is the state's third largest buyer of corn. Both Taiwan and Goiás have plans to further enhance industrial and business exchanges with each other.
