Taiwan reported 16 new local cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, and nine imported cases. The addition of five more deaths from the virus brings the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 778.
Of the 16 new local cases announced on Wednesday, six were in quarantine at the time they were discovered. The 11 men and five women began experiencing symptoms between July 12-19.

As for the source of the 16 local cases announced on Wednesday, a specific source of transmission is known for nine cases, the source is unknown for four, and three cases are still under investigation.
Taiwan also recorded nine imported cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. They include two travelers from the Philippines and seven from Indonesia.
