With Taiwan’s daily number of new COVID-19 cases trending downward, government officials are assessing the possibility of lowering the country’s COVID-19 alert level. Taiwan is currently at Level 3, which means a number of rules, including a mask mandate and limits how many people can gather.
On Wednesday, Cabinet spokesperson Lo Ping-cheng said the government is assessing the possibility of lowering the alert level, though he urged against carelessness. He said that a lowered alert level will come with relevant measures to make sure COVID-19 remains under control.
Meanwhile, Premier Su-tseng Chang has ordered all government agencies to evaluate the possibility of lowering Taiwan’s COVID-19 alert level, and to prepare to do so. Su says that the Cabinet is in the process of consolidating proposals into one unified plan.
