The Halifax International Security Forum is planning to hold a conference in Taiwan early next year. The Halifax International Security Forum convenes annually for discussions on security issues, with the aim of strengthening strategic cooperation among democratic nations.
The forum is best known in Taiwan for its decision to award its John McCain Prize for Leadership in Public Service to President Tsai Ing-wen in May in recognition of her achievements in safeguarding democracy and keeping COVID-19 at bay.
The conference in Taiwan will be the first event the forum has organized in Asia. The conference is scheduled to take place from January 21-23, 2022, and will be held in conjunction with Taiwanese think tank the Institute for National Defense and Security Research.
