Another 582,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday, bringing the total vaccines in Taiwan to 9.48 million doses. The total inventory includes 5.83 million doses of AstraZeneca and 3.65 million doses of Moderna vaccines.
Taiwan has purchased 10 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and 5.05 million doses of Moderna vaccines. It has also ordered 4.76 million vaccines from COVAX, a platform distributing various brands of vaccines to needy countries.
The government has also ordered 5 million doses each from local vaccine makers Medigen Vaccine Biologics and United Biomedical, with the possibility of buying 5 million more from each company.
Taiwan recently ordered an additional 35 million doses of the Moderna vaccine that will be coming within the next two years.
Of the vaccines the government has purchased, 1.88 million AstraZeneca vaccines have arrived, 1.15 million Moderna doses have arrived and COVAX has delivered 610,000 AstraZeneca vaccines.
Japan has donated 3.34 million AstraZeneca vaccines to Taiwan and the US has donated 2.5 million Moderna vaccines.
