COVID-19 (08/01): Taiwan reports 12 local cases, two deaths

Taiwan reported 12 new local cases and two imported cases of COVID-19 as well as two deaths from the disease on Sunday. 

 

The Sunday totals (by city/county) are as follows: 

New Taipei City: 6

Taipei City: 4

Taoyuan City: 1

Taichung City: 1 

The addition of two more deaths from the virus brings the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 789. The deceased include two men over 60 who had pre-existing conditions.

Taiwan also recorded two imported cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. They include two Taiwanese returning from India and Mexico.

Of the COVID-19 cases contracted between May 11 and July 30, 89% have recovered.

Taiwan has seen a total of 15,688 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
