Video: Poland considers donating COVID vaccine doses to Taiwan

Taiwan’s generosity early during the COVID-19 pandemic is paying off. Poland is considering donating COVID-19 vaccine doses to Taiwan, and it’s all thanks to a donation of medical masks Taiwan made early last year.

Last April, plane spotters near Taiwan’s largest airport saw an unusual sight in these parts: a plane bearing the livery of LOT Polish Airlines. This isn’t an airline that usually serves Taiwan, but last April was an unusual time, shortly after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The LOT aircraft landed in Taiwan to pick up ten tons of medical equipment Poland had purchased here. And this wasn’t the only help Taiwan gave Poland when it came to fighting COVID.

Taiwan also donated one million medical masks to Poland during a time of shortage, prompting Poland’s representative here to call Taiwan and Poland “friends in time of trouble”.

Now, Poland is considering repaying the favor. The country has an excess of COVID-19 vaccine doses at a time when Taiwan is trying to get its population vaccinated. Soon, Poland may add its name to the list of countries that have already shown their friendship to Taiwan’s people with a donation of vaccine doses.
