Taiwanese billionaire and founder of Foxconn, Terry Gou, has been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Czech Republic. Gou said on Wednesday that he was pleased with the overall experience and posted pictures of his vaccination on Facebook.
Taiwan has delivered at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose to at least 36% of its population. But right now, vaccine supplies are running low. Gou says he wants to use his experience to encourage more people to get the vaccine as soon as it is available.
Gou was vaccinated immediately after arriving in Prague, so that he could receive proof of vaccination to travel more freely through Europe.
Gou says that he thought he would be vaccinated in a hospital, and was surprised when he arrived at the location: a shopping mall. Still, he says, the experience was fantastic. Gou says that it was a warm environment with friendly staff and that he felt relaxed.
Gou chose the Pfizer vaccine, which cost US$35. The whole process took 20 minutes. After 30 minutes of rest, Gou says he felt ready to go out and travel the world with his new vaccination card.
