COVID-19 (08/09): Taiwan reports 8 more cases, 4 deaths

Taiwan reported eight new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. That includes four new domestic cases and four imported cases. 

The addition of four more deaths from the virus brings the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 813. The deceased include three men and one woman. All four of them had pre-existing conditions. 

Of the four new local cases announced on Monday, one tested positive while in quarantine. All four were men. They began experiencing symptoms between August 7 and August 8.

 

The Monday totals (by city/county) are as follows: 

Taipei City: 2

New Taipei City: 1

Kaohsiung City: 1

As for the source of the four local cases announced on Monday, a specific source of transmission is known for one of the cases, and the source is unknown for the other three.

Taiwan also recorded four imported cases of COVID-19 on Monday. They include three travelers from Malaysia and one from the United States.
