Taiwan reported eight new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. That includes three new domestic cases and five imported cases.
The addition of one more death from the virus brings the death toll from the beginning of the pandemic to 814. The deceased was a woman in her fifties with pre-existing health conditions.
Of the three new local cases announced on Tuesday, one tested positive while in quarantine. One was a man and two were women. They began experiencing symptoms between August 2 and August 7. All three cases were discovered in New Taipei City.
As for the source of the three local cases announced on Tuesday, a specific source of transmission is known for two cases, and the source is unknown for one.
Taiwan also recorded five imported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. They include travelers from France, the United States, Indonesia and Switzerland.
