Bureau of Energy: Taiwan can learn from Germany’s green policies
The Bureau of Energy says that Germany provides an example Taiwan can look to as it works to increase its renewable energy output and reduce emissions.

The Bureau of Energy says that Germany provides an example Taiwan can look to as it works to increase its renewable energy output and reduce emissions.

That came after a videoconference on increasing the use of green power held Wednesday, with experts and representatives from Taiwan and Germany in attendance.

Germany’s green energy policies have successfully turned renewable energy sources into a pillar of the German power grid. In 2020, renewables accounted for 41.5% of Germany’s electricity, and the country has set a goal of increasing that proportion to 65% by 2030.

Germany has also recently passed an energy bill that is expected to further drive forward the use and availability of renewable energy in the country.

Taiwan’s Bureau of Energy says it will use the lessons of these German policies in moving towards its own goal of making Taiwan carbon neutral by 2050.
