The Ministry of Labor is extending its subsidy program to include people without labor insurance and those who have suffered salary cuts. Workers in the program will receive NT$10,000 in living expenses.
The Ministry of Labor says there are still some conditions within these two new categories. People without labor insurance can now receive subsidies if they are over 65 years old and still working. These people may not already have labor insurance, because they are part-time workers and do not qualify.
Those who have had their salary cut can apply for the subsidy if their pay decreased by 20% or more between April and July this year.
The Labor Minister Hsu Ming-chun says that this new plan will provide relief to an additional 320,000 workers. She says the ministry has extended the application window to September 30 to allow more people to apply, and that the ministry has also made the application process short and simple.
Meanwhile, ministry official Huang Wei-shen says that people who meet the subsidy program's earlier requirements can continue to apply. These include full-time workers on labor insurance with monthly salaries below NT$34,000. Newly-qualified workers can apply for the subsidy beginning August 13.
