Travel association head Roget Hsu is calling on the government to create more international travel bubbles to help the tourism industry recover from COVID-19. That was during a conference on the difficulties facing the tourism sector held on Wednesday.
In addition, Hsu called on Taiwan to adopt an internationally recognized vaccine passport, recommending the IATA Travel Pass in particular. He also called for a conditional reduction in the number of days international travelers must spend in quarantine in order to stimulate interest in travel.
Taiwan’s travel industry is hurting badly as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. Data shows that around half of Taiwanese hotels catering to tourists have closed down, and that between 20% and 30% of those hotels still open have transformed themselves into quarantine hotels in order to survive.
